At HK, we pride ourselves on staying on the cutting edge of new technologies and techniques in aesthetics and plastic surgery. We offer several methods that are either unusual in the field or were developed by our very own surgeons.
Below are some procedures that may be unfamiliar to you because they are not well-known. If you think any of these treatments would be beneficial to you or a loved one, contact us for a consultation.
Our state-of-the-art facility is fully accredited by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities. We even go beyond the requirements of accreditation by providing board-certified anesthesiologists and nurses who are all certified in advanced cardiac life support. Fat Grafting – State-of-the-Art Techniques for the Face, Buttocks, and Breasts
At HK, we use a new technique for fat grafting that causes less disruption to the harvested fat cells. What does this mean for you? More of the fat that is injected will “take,” which means that less of the fat will be absorbed by the body. When fat is absorbed, it sometimes causes the need for a second injection procedure to achieve the desired contour. Our technique also allows us to perform fat grafting faster than in the past with less downtime for you.
Most practices use fat grafting solely for restoring lost volume to the face. Our surgeons frequently use it to contour the buttocks and the breasts as well. The fat injections can prevent implants – whether in the buttocks or the breasts – from being seen through the skin. The fat can also “fill in” any areas that need to be contoured so that you walk away from our office with the best possible shape.
Using your own fat to contour areas of the face and body means that you will not have an allergic reaction to the injections. The fat can be taken (through Liposuction) from areas where you have unwanted fat, which can reduce the donor sites, such as the abdomen, buttocks, or thighs. If you do not wish to reduce any areas of the body, we will harvest only the amount of fat we need for your injections. It’s your choice!

Bra Line Back Lift
You can lift weights and exercise day in and day out, but if you have excess fat on the back that bulges above and below the bra line, your efforts may do nothing to resolve the problem. To deal with this issue, we developed a bra line back lift procedure in 2004 to remove the lax skin, back fat, and bulges that plague so many women. More than a decade later, all of our surgeons have had extensive experience performing this specialized procedure that provides dramatic results. Read more about Bra Line Back Lift.
A buffalo hump is an area of subcutaneous fat deposits in the upper neck and back. This disfigurement is more than embarrassing; it can sometimes limit the ability of a person to extend the head and neck, causing them to keep their head in a flexed downward position. Depending on the severity, a buffalo hump can make it difficult to walk upright or find clothes that fit properly.
At HK, our surgeons have considerable experience correcting buffalo humps for our patients. This type of surgery is not done by many practices, so we are pleased to be able to offer it for those who need it. Using Liposuction, the treatment removes the hump and restores a smooth contour to the back and neck, so that you can hold your neck in a normal and proper position. Ear Wells – An Alternative to Ear Surgery for Babies
Statistics show that 20% to 35% of babies are born with ear deformities. While there are many reasons why infants develop congenital ear defects, deformed ears are often left untreated. Not all parents are willing to put their baby through surgery to correct infant ear abnormalities. Now, there is a non-surgical option.
Otoplasty, a surgical procedure to correct ear deformities, is typically performed before the child starts school (around five years old) to prevent social teasing. While we offer Otoplasty, a new treatment has been developed that promises a pain-free, surgery-free solution to infant ear deformities – the EarWell™ Ear Correction System. This non-invasive treatment corrects over 90% of infant ear deformities. Read more about Ear Wells.
Removal of Small Pockets of Fat
Many of our patients find small pockets of fat on their bodies, and they assume they just have to live with these unsightly bulges. Sometimes, these pockets of fat appear on the hips or as saddlebags. These areas can often be removed through simple Liposuction techniques. The incisions are very small, and the procedure is frequently quite simple and fast. If you have problem areas that you think might be pockets of fat, contact us for a consultation. Read more about Liposuction.
Some people naturally have a small buttocks crease, also called a gluteal fold. We have a number of techniques for correcting this, depending upon the cause. This procedure can be done in conjunction with a Buttock Lift (with an implant, fat grafting, or a combination of implant/fat grafting) or without a Buttock Lift.
The buttocks crease may have sustained an injury, or a previous surgery may have caused an abnormality. This can happen, for example, when tissue must be borrowed from the buttocks for a breast reconstruction or other type of reconstructive surgery. If you wish to have your gluteal fold altered, contact us for a consultation, and we will explain the techniques we recommend for you.
Drainless Tummy Tuck
In traditional abdominoplasty or tummy tuck surgery, there is a space between the abdominal wall and the overlaying fat and skin. If nothing is done to close that space, the body produces fluid as its normal response during the healing process. Drains are commonly placed in the incisions for a few days to catch the fluid and prevent it from accumulating between the tissue planes. There is no denying that these drains are irritating and uncomfortable.
At v, we use a technique that removes the space between the abdominal wall and overlaying fat and skin whenever possible. No space means no need for drains. While not all patients are ideal candidates for this “drainless” tummy tuck technique, recovery is easier for those who can have the surgery safely and effectively without the drains.
Few practices offer a drainless tummy tuck, so if you are interested in this surgery, see us for an examination and consultation to learn if you can benefit from this advancement while removing stubborn fat from the abdomen. Read more about Drainless Tummy Tuck.
This laser is the first device to create all three skin fundamentals: elastin, collagen, and hyaluronic acid. Using temperature-controlled radiofrequency, it replaces lost volume to aging skin in a natural way that kicks in your body’s production of the above three age-busting substances. It is an excellent treatment for lines and wrinkles (including nasolabial folds and marionette lines), as well as sagging jowls/jawline, double chin, and neck bands. Recovery time is minimal. Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
This skin rejuvenation treatment is offered by few practices. It is an anti-aging procedure that uses your own blood to stimulate your body’s natural collagen production and repair damaged skin. The technique has been used for many years in medical arenas to repair injuries. Now, it is being used cosmetically to regenerate skin cells. As a result, your skin becomes smoother and more toned. We often combine PRP with IPL to even out skin tone and the Fractional CO2 Laser to smooth fine surface lines and wrinkles. It’s the trifecta of skin rejuvenation. Read more about PRP.
