Fat Grafting for the Breast
Did you ever wish you could transfer fat from your body to your breasts? Well, now you can! Fat grafting allows you to transfer fat from one area of the body to the breasts. Using liposuction techniques, we can remove fatty tissue from the abdomen, hips, or buttocks and inject it into the breasts to enhance their appearance during a breast augmentation. Implants are still inserted, but the fat grafts provide a more natural contour that also prevents the implants from being seen through the skin.
Fat grafting gives you the opportunity to reduce a “problem area” while enhancing the other area, but if you do not wish to reduce any part of the body, we will harvest only enough fat needed for the breast grafts.
At HK, we use a new technique for fat grafting that causes less disruption to the harvested fat cells. What does this mean for you? More of the fat that is injected will “take,” which means that less of the fat will be absorbed by the body. When fat is absorbed, it sometimes causes the need for a second injection procedure. Our technique also allows us to perform fat grafting faster than in the past with less downtime for you.
After the fat is harvested, it is treated and then re-injected into the breasts where additional volume is needed. Our surgeons are experts at both liposuction and contouring of the breasts using fat grafting injections during breast augmentation.
What can fat grafting for the breasts do for me?
Adding fat grafting to your breast augmentation ensures a more natural-looking result without the risk of your implants being visible through the skin.

What can I expect during fat grafting for the breasts?
Liposuction and fat grafting can be performed on an outpatient basis using general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation at our fully accredited surgical facility on our beautiful campus, where our highly qualified nurses will pamper you. Our nurses are certified in advanced cardiac life support, which ensures the highest level of supervision, evaluation, and care in the unlikely event of an emergency. We also work with board-certified anesthesiologists.
In the liposuction portion of the process, an incision is made on the part of the body where the fat will be removed, and a tube called a cannula is inserted. A vacuum-like device is attached to the cannula, and suction removes the appropriate amount of fat.
The fat is then carefully processed. The resulting fat is very smooth in texture so that it will look perfectly natural when re-injected into the breasts using a fine needle.
Since your own tissue is used, there are no issues with rejection. No additional incisions are necessary with this procedure, and the liposuction incisions are small with only very fine scars necessary. We can usually keep the donor site incisions in discreet areas such as below the bikini line, under the buttocks, or the inside of the thighs.
How long does it take to recover from fat grafting for the breasts?
Recovery from fat grafting along with your breast augmentation is the same as a breast augmentation without fat grafting. Most of our patients are able to return to normal activities within a few days. Lifting and vigorous exercise are restricted for a few weeks, however.
We will provide special instructions to help you recover from your surgery as fast as possible. You can expect some tenderness and a feeling of tightness. You may also experience some bruising and swelling, but these conditions should resolve quickly, leaving you with the beautiful breasts you’ve always wanted.
How long does fat grafting for the breasts last?
Our techniques prevent absorption of the injected fat, but a small amount may be absorbed by the body during the first three months. After that, the remaining grafted fat is permanent.
