The last thing anyone wants is to endure the expense and recovery period of a tummy tuck … only to be disappointed with the results. At HK, abdominoplasty revision surgery has proven to be a very gratifying procedure for both surgeon and patient. Drs. Hunstad, Kortesis and Bharti all have experience correcting tummy tucks that went wrong, providing our patients with the relief of finally having the outstanding result they hoped for.

Often, the problem with the first tummy tuck was that little or no concurrent liposuction was performed, leaving thickness of fat much greater than desired. Muscle tightening is often neglected – a process that is vital to achieve a flat, tight abdomen, as well as a marked improvement in the waistline. Our surgeons also frequently remove significant scarring from the first procedure when they perform tummy tuck revisions.

What can a tummy tuck revision do for me?

At HK, you are in good hands, ensuring that you achieve the results you envisioned in your original tummy tuck will be corrected so that you have the trimmer, firmer abdomen and waistline you wanted.

What can I expect during a tummy tuck revision?

Tummy tuck revision is an outpatient surgery at our state-of-the-art center, or you can stay in our fully-accredited overnight facility under the care of our top-notch nursing staff – all of whom are certified in advanced cardiac life support. This is not a requirement for a facility’s accreditation and certification, but it ensures the highest level of supervision, evaluation, and care should there ever be an emergency. It means you can relax in the knowledge that you are in good hands.

We also use board-certified anesthesiologists who remain in the operating room during your procedure. This is the gold standard in the operating room, and you should accept nothing less.

During the surgery, the muscles are repositioned to achieve a flat, tight abdomen with dramatic improvement to the waistline and posture. This process also allows any abdominal muscles that have stretched apart to be brought back together. Stretch marks can sometimes be removed or reduced as well during this procedure, and we can diminish stretch marks further through our ICON Laser, which is the only FDA-approved laser procedure for stretch mark removal.

By performing thorough liposuction, removing any excess skin, very strong muscle tightening, and designing a procedure to deliver thinning, tightening, and flattening, we can achieve an outcome that provides an impressive level of patient satisfaction.

How long does it take to recover from tummy tuck revision?

Recovery time from a tummy tuck revision varies from patient to patient but is about the same or shorter than after your original tummy tuck. While some feel well enough to return to work within a week, others require two or more weeks. Based on your case and the extent of your surgery, we can give you an estimate about your recovery time.

You should expect to be bruised, swollen, and sore for at least a few days, but we will give you a prescription for pain medication to help you through this period.

We will, of course, monitor your progress after your surgery, give you detailed post-operative instructions, and see you in follow-up examinations to make sure you are healing properly and that you are happy with your results.

How long does tummy tuck revision surgery last?

The results of a tummy tuck revision are long lasting, but new fat can develop. You can help to maintain your slimmer contour by eating a healthy diet and exercising regularly.
